What Is In YOUR Cup?

Think about this analogy:

You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere. Question: Why did you spill the coffee?

Most likely you would answer, "Because someone bumped into me!!"
Wrong answer.

You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup. Had there been tea in your cup, you would have spilled tea. Whatever is inside of the cup is what will spill out.

Therefore, when life comes along and shakes YOU (which WILL happen), whatever is inside of YOU will be what comes out. It is easy to fake it, until you get rattled.

So we have to ask ourselves, "What is in MY cup?" When things in our life get tough, what spills over? Joy, gratitude, peace or humility? Or anger, bitterness, victim mentality or impatience.

God provides the cup, YOU choose how and with what you are going to fill it. One thing that we should fill our cup with is water: to be exact, the living water of Jesus Christ. The more our cup is filled with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, the more Jesus we will spill when we get bumped by matters of life.
Today let us work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation, resilience, positivity, kindness, gentleness, patience, understanding, compassion, humility, peace and a Christ-like love for others.
